Learning is not in a straight line
Congratulations on getting to the end of our New Year Tips. We have discussed a range of ideas to help you with your language learning journey.
Choosing a language to learn, setting goals for language learning, technology for language learning, reading books for language learning, watching films to learn a language, know your learning style, a language learning journal, improve your listening skills, language conversation groups, keeping your enthusiasm for language learning.
As you can see, there isn’t just one way to improve your language skills. A big part of learning a language (or anything for that matter) is to remember than learning is not linear.
Our final tip, is about progress. As we have said, learning is not linear, and it is unlikely you will learn like graph A. Learning is more like graph B, which shows ups and downs with learning where you learn and forget something. But eventually, you can see the trend for the squiggly line is upwards, so you are making progress, even when it sometimes feels like you aren’t.
